Like Chinese Pop Male artists, Chinese Pop Female artists can also be categorized into 3 generations.

From what I can recall from the Jade Solid Gold Award (Hong Kong), Sally Yeh 叶倩文 received the Best Female Artist for 4-5 consecutive years in the early 90's!!!

Before Sally Yeh, there were a few Chinese Pop Female artists who were very popular in the 80's such as Anita Mui 梅艳芳 and Paula Tsui 徐小凤.

The 2nd generations were those that emerged in the 90's. Faye Wong 王菲, Cass Pang 彭羚, Sammi Cheng 郑秀文, Sandy Lam 林忆莲, Shirley Kwan 关淑怡, Karen Mok 莫文蔚, Kelly Chan 陈慧琳, A-Mei 张惠妹 were all female artists that became real popular in the 90s.

Some have retired like Cass Pang while some are no longer famous and have not released any new albums.

Step forward into the new 21st century and there are just so many young Chinese Pop Female artists!

From Hong Kong, there is Joey Yong 容祖儿 and Fiona Sit 薛凯琪.

From Taiwan, Jolin Tsai 蔡依林 and Cyndi Wong 王心凌 are 2 famous names.

Fish Leung 梁靜茹 and Angelica Lee 李心洁 are both from Malaysia who've made it big.

Stefanie Sun 孙燕姿 and Celest Chang 张玉华 are 2 female artists from Singapore that have gotten their lucky break.

Out of all those Chinese Pop Female artists, Faye Wong and Karen Mok are the ones I like the most. I can't tell you why because I myself don't know the exact reason. I guess I just like their songs! :)
